[edit]How can someone get two army ranks at the same date? And being promoted to Major after having been Lieutanant-Colonel seems rather odd to me. So I guess the promotions are not presented in the right order.
- It certainly looks wrong. I can't find a reliable source for the details, it is just possible he was for instance - Major, acting Lt. Col. then was promoted to full Lt. Col.Alci12
It's an old Household Division practice, their officers held both a Regimental Rank, and a higher Army Rank. The latter, higher, rank is their rank in the Army, but they hold a lower rank within the Regiment. A Captain of the Guards, for example, held the Army Rank of Lieutenant Colonel. It's called "double-rank". 67th Tigers (talk) 17:36, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
