Why did you change my information on the Madonna page? they are all actual figures from The Guiness Book of World Records, Warner Bros. Records, www.madonna.com, Billboard archives, etc.!!!!! What are YOUR sources?????????????? MadonnaFan

You destroyed the page: look at the state it was in after your edits. I reverted to the last version prior to your snipping spree. Also: if they're real figures, it should be easy to provide links, something you consistently refused to do on the talk page. Thirdly, most of the stuff you added doesn't belong in the trivia section, as Hadal pointed out here. Finally: I suggest you read the welcome link Hadal posted on your talk page, particularly the sections regarding Wikipedia etiquette [1] [2], or you're likely to find your stay here brief and unrewarding.

I have updated the Madonna page with a "Fun Facts" section with some of my info. (because it, was according to you, not appropriate for the trivia section) and listed my sources in the Discussion section, PLEASE don't delete it! MadonnaFan

Please reply here, rather than starting a new section at the bottom of the page.

As Hadal mentioned, those stats should be integrated into the body of the article if possible. ("Fun Facts" is redundant as it's a synonym for "Trivia".) Citing the specific source for each "fact" would also be helpful. Surely it's not that difficult to copy the URL of the page on madonna.com, absolutemadonna.com, go.to/Madonna or billboard.com that provided each "fun fact" as you have done for Guinness World Records, which is appreciated.

You can cite each source by appending the URL in square brackets like this:

According to Guinness World Records, Madonna is the most successful female artist of all time. [3]

About the Janet Jackson fact on the Madonna page..

Janet Jackson recieved more #1's on the dance chart with her last album, but I don't know how many exactly, 1 or 2 I think so don't change it! Its not 14 ;)

Also, quit changing my Maverick Records sentence, it sounds better my way and it makes more sense since I say "...has generated mor money than..." before the end ;) MadonnaFan

Thanks for the Janet Jackson heads up, though please take care not to remove links without a good justification (e.g. if the link is a duplicate). You can explain your reasoning in the edit summary or on the talk page. I'm also restoring "nearest rival": it avoids the telegraphese of "2nd place Janet Jackson", and it makes her sound like a human being rather than a racehorse.

If you really want to spend your time quibbling over aesthetics rather than fact-checking and adding content to the article, you'll find that those two smileys are much more disarming and persuasive than incivility could ever hope to be. Why don't you play to your strengths (Madonna facts and figures) and I'll play to mine (copyediting)? Your edits and posts here, in the article and on other talk pages show that attention to stylistic detail is not really your forté ;)

Still: I don't know what beef we're supposed to have over the Maverick Records sentence: it's fine as it currently stands.

Of course she's in "2nd place". That's what "nearest rival" to "the most successful dance artist" means. The dispute wasn't over the position; it was over the wording.

Alright, Madonna's 165 million albums is her LOW-END and most popular estimate, and 75 million singles is the most accurate estimate. But early This year in a press relase WB Records said she has sold 250 million records world wide (I gave a line to the tour press release) So I'm changing it a little. Also, I'm putting The Guiness Book thing after again since the article in the book discusses not only her sales but her success on the singles chart, and how is gaining the title "The Queen of Pop" not a career achievement? You never hear Mariah called the queen of pop ;) I can post a link to an article(s) refering to her as such if you like.

I don't understand why you keep indenting your replies. I thought I covered the "threaded discussion" thing in detail here. Note that if you're using a PC, you can (and should :-) hit Alt-P to preview a page before saving it.

I appreciate you correcting the figure, but I merged various sales statistics into one compact prose paragraph. [4] You separated them again without saying why in the edit summary (another thing I mentioned on your talk page). You do realize that by pulverizing the career achievement section into dry bullet points, you're making it less, not more, easy to read? Take a step back and look at the list with the eye of a casual reader. The bottom half is readable prose; the top-half is fine as reference material, but is no more readable than the various 'ographies below it.

That doesn't explain why you moved the paragraph down. I placed it at the top because it effectively summarizes all the other achievements, and thus is the obvious intro. It's also prose rather than yet another dry statistic; frontloading it makes the section easier on the eye. Could you explain again why you moved it down?

A nickname isn't a career achievement. Everything else in that section relates to sales, so it's a complete non sequitur there. I moved it to the trivia section. (It's also mentioned in the intro.)

Why don't you concentrate on adding more material - the two paragraphs you added are (as always) excellent - rather than contesting every little copyedit?

I moved the Guiness Book thing to after all of the sales and chart info because the article discusses how Madonna is #1 because of sales AND chart success, and it sums up my ramblings quite nicely and introduces the accolades she has accumulated.

I'm just a neat freak in general and obsess over my work/projects and everything I do has to be perfect. I'm sorry if I'm trying to do your job as well, I just have OCD and am anal retentive. MadonnaFan 06:07, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Introductions usually go at the beginning... Better to start with the biggest bang of the whole list, than to hide it away in the section's nether reaches.
