The Bolitho Novels
[edit]British author Douglas Reeman (using the pseudonym Alexander Kent) has written 30 novels on Captain Richard Bolitho RN. His home was in Falmouth in Cornwall.
Should this not be mentioned in the Wiki, maybe under culture like Kenneth Grahame's classic The Wind in the Willows? Prudence Williams (talk) 17:22, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Pennycomequick, Smithwick?
[edit]The article about the river Fal asserts that Falmouth was named "Smithwick until the 17th century". In this article an old name Pennycomequick is mentioned. I don't know what to believe about these supposed older names. GdB (talk) 15:05, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- I have seen both these names mentioned in various books. Provided they are properly cited then we should mention them. If there is credible evidence that the sources are incorrect then a footnote should be added. Geof Sheppard (talk) 16:53, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- @GdB:, @Geof Sheppard: I removed Smithwick from the River Fal article as the citation given did not support it. Looking more closely, the addition of Smithwick was fly-by IP vandalism from 2012. I strongly suspect any occurrence of it elsewhere is a case of citogenesis. DuncanHill (talk) 17:38, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- The source cited in this article is clear that both names were in use for a small group of dwellings before the town of Falmouth developed.Geof Sheppard (talk) 18:51, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
