[edit]I was going to amend this article as a RamBot mistake, but then I had a thought: does the word "village" have some kind of specific technical meaning in the USA? This place has 40,000 people, and it's a village?? — Trilobite (Talk) 19:37, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, please be careful about changing such things. Cities and villages are common types of municipalities in many US states. There is usually, but not always, a correlation in size. But there are many villages that are an order of magnitude larger than some cities. The distinction has to do with the specific powers and responsibilities granted to the municipality. It terms of political entities there is a significant difference between them, although for most people, that difference is of little consequence.
- Besides cities and villages (which Rambot derived directly from U.S. Census data and are generally accurate designations)--there are many places Rambot described as "towns" which is a very ambiguous descriptor. In many states, the term "town" has no official meaning as a type of municipality while in other states it does. It can be very confusing sorting them out unless you are familiar with the types of municipalities in a particular state. older ≠ wiser 19:44, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Essentially to become a city, a village must be willing to restructure its government. For example, Schaumburg, Illinois is a village and it has a LOT more people than Carol Stream. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ, cοηtrιbs) 22:03, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Am I the only one here who lives in this town and actually knows some facts about it? — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ, cοηtrιbs) 02:32, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I live here and know all the geographical facts, but all the history eludes me. Sonicscream2 (talk) 13:19, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
"Carol Stream is also occupied by one big brown man by the name of Rocco." Who is Rocco? Copysan 08:45, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like vandalism. — Ilyanep (Talk) 20:32, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
I live here and don't know anyone named Rocco, and there are definately more than one African American in the town. Sonicscream2 (talk) 13:19, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
This town is in the Wayne Township right? I changed it from the Bloomingdale Township in the article. Sonicscream2 (talk) 13:28, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Removal explanation
[edit]In 2006 some text was added. It was a copy paste from this site The original editor included a reference, which was inexplicably removed in 2008.
I've removed the text due to copyright considerations, but this leaves a gap in the history. An editor might wish to review the source, and add back some of the information in their own words.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:44, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
