On 24 Aug 2004, this page was nominated for deletion. See Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Dartmouth College Marching Band for a record of the discussion. Rossami 00:23, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)

This page has been recreated as its own page due to the desire to expand upon the previous entry in Dartmouth College student groups. Please note that while this page was earlier merged into student groups and changed to a redirect, numerous other parallels exist with other marching bands that also have their own page (including the Yale Precision Marching Band, whose entry was decided to keep in June 2005). Other examples: Princeton University Band, Columbia University Marching Band, and other non-Ivy League scramble bands. The Dartmouth band is the first marching band to form in the Ivy League, and is ripe with traditions (which will be expanded upon later as alumni are consulted). --smith120bh 08:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

!

[edit]

There is no exclamation point in the name of the group, as SigmaPhiEpsilon58 claims there to be. Please don't add that to the names in the article, as it breaks links, and is incorrect. Letoofdune 22:33, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Significance

[edit]

I see very little improvement on the significance of this article since its original nomination for deletion in 2004. I think it should go away unless someone is willing to significantly improve it. Bassgoonist 18:57, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're going to need to challenge the articles on every band in the Ivy League (since all eight of them have articles now) if you want this article deleted. Dartmouth is the oldest band in the Ivy League (I will find an official citation for that, but independent research confirms that 1889 does make it the earliest). Also, Yale Precision Marching Band was put up on AfD last year on the ground of significance, and the decision was to keep. I have some free time this summer, so I do plan to clean up this article more. -- Smith120bh/TALK 23:13, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
