The paper Cornell University Cooperative Extension - Companion Planting is unreliable and is based off Carrots Love Tomatoes, a non-scientific book the author Riotte (1909-1998) admits is "gardening lore", "magic and mystery... that has never been fully explored", and bids scientists and farmers to make more discoveries. This same author wrote some books on agricultural astrology and "raising animals by the moon".
