Funny chars.
[edit]Hi Simon, yesterday when you edited Neoconservatism (United States) you (or more likely your editor) added some garbage characters to the text where 'e' with an acute accent should be: this instead of this é. Perhaps you were not viewing and editing the articles using the correct character set? (ie, ISO 8859-1) As you probably know, "é", as entered from the keyboard, usually appears correctly with no special encoding, but to be sure, it is better to use é (cf: Wikipedia:Special characters). All the best, -- Viajero 10:48, 27 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Was not me. :-) But thanks for fixing it anyway. Cema 12:43, 30 Aug 2003 (UTC)
This has happened again with the Apollo 8 and Apollo 11 articles. Use ° for "degree" if necessary. -- Curps 12:55, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Funny. I was watching those articles. But I certainly did not edit the degree portions of the text! What is going on? I am confused. Cema 02:25, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Euqlity and other words
[edit]Would you mind creating an entry for euqlity in Wiktionary? I can't even find its meaning in dictionary.com; though I think I understand what you're saying from the context...--Leifern 15:33, 2005 Apr 3 (UTC)
Notability of Alexander Kostarev
[edit]A tag has been placed on Alexander Kostarev, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 00:47, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:06, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
