Census division is the correct term, see [www.statscan.ca] and you will see what I mean. Kitchener-Waterloo, Ottawa, Oxford, Algoma are all considered Census Divisions. It's the correct term, and they are not misleading. Perhaps a little explanation seems fit, to fix anything misleading. Earl Andrew 16:25, 24 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I think using the word municipalities is misleading, as I consider a municipality to be what Stats Can defines as a "Census subdivision" (cities, towns, villages, towsnhips, etc) If you must change it, do not use the word municipality at all. I'm really trying to think of a better term to use other than census division, but I really can't come up with one. Political region? I like the way things are now, with the explanation you've provided by the way. Ottawa transitway

If you mention the downtown jumble on mixed trafic streets as a problem you might also mention the problem of lack of a coordination in the national capital region between the Ontario side with its 750,000 plus user base and the Quebec side with tits 250,000 plus user base. And the fact that they both cross over meet in a their respective downtowns in a monster jumble of red buses and blue buses, caught in between the cars of the rush hour trafic. The transitways could be such a marvelous thing, if only there could be a downtown underground bus tunnel like in Seattle. By the way, the same rail line used by the O-train not only crosses the river, as you mention, but once across it goes on for 20-30 km right along a truly central corridor with incredible potential. Also on the note of the transitway, If you check the page to the Lycée Claudel Transitway Station, this is what I would like to see each station page look like. It's the only one I have made so far, but I plan on taking photos of each stop for wikipedia in the near future. There should be enough information to warrant a page. Historic counties of Ontario

Thanks...you're entirely right about Regional Municipality of Sudbury. I knew it didn't seem right to add it the way I did, but I couldn't think of a better way to include it. (A separate article on Historic Regional Municipalities of Ontario that weren't previously counties just seemed like splitting hairs, you know? *grin*) But out of the existing categories, Historic counties is about the only place it can go, so I think you hit on the right solution. Wikinews demo up and running

Hi!

I'm writing to let you know that the Wikimedia Board of Trustees has approved the first stage of the Wikinews project. There's now a fully operational English demo site at demo.wikinews.org. This will be used for experimenting with various review models and basic policies before the site is launched officially in about a week. demo.wikinews.org will become the English version later.

Thanks! I actually hope to do a bunch of other maps, such as for the expressways in Ontario and the entire provincial highway network. I started work last night, but with the state of the highway network since downloading, it's hard to figure out where some roads end and where others begin. I'll keep working on them, though. Toronto Subway

Thank you for your thoughtful reply to my work with the Toronto Subway page. In all honesty, I am mostly just following what I have noticed to be the trend on Wikipedia for all well-formed subway articles (Reference MTR, KCRC, Montreal Metro, and the 6 line). I think that it generally looks clunky to have information not be parcelled out. There is actually quite a lot of information there, and I have so far come across three stubs. I think it makes it easier to cross-reference within information to have it seperated out by station so that when individual stations are referenced in the Wikis for other stations, a user can go directly to that station for further infornation. I will post this to the Canadian Wikipedia users board, but I am also going to continue with my work so that the finished product can be presented.Páll 01:23, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I was raised in Hamilton and took various bicycle camping rides around the Niagara Peninsula, Grand River Valley and Lake Simcoe. One of my most incongruous experiences was sitting on my bike at a traffic light in Wilmot beside a horse and buggy and transport truck.

Thanks for your kind words, regarding the images when I started to write the page I would have agreed with you, I only used the Victorian black and white photographs as they were the only ones I could find out of copyright. Having now stared at them for the three weeks or so I was writing the page, I now think they add a certain nostalgia and originality to the page, they also have a certain clean clarity that new ones may not have, especially as many of the buildings are now in heavily developed areas. However I suppose Wikipedia is a modern encyclopedia, and mine is not a very encyclopedic view, and colour would brighten the page up, but in the meantime I quite like the old ones. Hello, I created the tactile feature page and I noticed that you made an edit called "copyedit and wikiage. I'm curious as to what that means?

I initially though that copyedit meant something about the copyright for the little illustration I made but apparently it is a general term for improving the grammer and sentence structure. Circumnavigation in AR7

I don't know if the race not "travelling around the world" is a legit criticism. Circumnavigation in the Race is more of a tradition than requisite for the race. Besidesm, a lot of ppl were complaining that teams never visited England long enough, and they finally spent an entire leg in London. --Madchester 15:17, 2005 May 11 (UTC)

"Race around the world" is just a figure of speech... like when i say "let's go around the block", I'm not really making a circle around a city block. There's room for interpretation either way. Besides, only Seasons 1 and 6 actually circumnavigated... all the other races didn't even finish at their starting cities. Hell, Season 3 started in Miami and ended in Seattle.... they didn't even finish on the same coast.

Logistically, the producers only had 2 months to plan for the entire race. With the time they had, they did a good job of planning the race. --Madchester 17:40, 2005 May 11 (UTC)

Smokey Smith

Hi,

I think its great that you added the tag on the portrait image of Smokey Smith However, if you take a look at Canadian order of precedence (Decorations and Medals) (a page a began recently which does admitedly need a lot of work) you will see that the Canadian Forces Decoration is actually third from left and the gold medal rightmost is actually the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal, a commemorative medal which was issued in 2002 to all recipients of the Order of Canada and the Canadian Bravery Decorations. I belive the last 5 medals in the picture are the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal, Canadian Confederation Medal, Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal, 125th Aniversary of Confederation Medal, and the Golden Jubilee Medal.

I think one of the medals in the middle is probably a korean cervice medal but I dont know which.
