Should the possibility the Goa'uld "borrowed" the staff weapon be mentioned?

It was established in one episode that the staff is an impractical weapon. The mindset of the Ori may have just caused them to adapt it for the same reasons as the Goa'uld.

I always suspected the staff weapon was borrowed from the Ancients. I mean for one, the Ori use similar staff weapons. We all know that the Alteran technology is similar to Ori. It has also been mentioned that the Gao'uld were scavengers of technology, and there have been other cases where the Goa'uld used Ancient tech. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.245.151.105 (talk) 21:53, 21 April 2007 (UTC).

I'm sure it's possible, but I believe that, without any outside reference, this would be considered original research and removed. I don't think "Goa'uld are scavengers" will be sufficient to prove the point. Chronolegion 13:05, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

How Does a Staff Weapon Fire?

Hey does anybody know how the staff weapon fires?I think it has to do something with the back handgrip. Is there a trigger, button, or whatever?

Name in the Goa'uld language

Almost all Goa'uld technology has, in addition to the English name assigned by the Tau'ri, a name all its own in the Goa'uld language. Some of these words are used in common with the English words, some are rarely ever seen outside of Goa'uld space, and some are used exclusively, even by the humans of Earth (Ha'tak, Pel'tak, and Zat as a respective example of all three). However, Staff weapons are always referred to as Staff weapons, even by the Jaffa and Goa'uld, which is why this article is titled as such; yet it still makes sense that they have a Goa'uld name. While I'm not saying we should move this article to whatever title that might happen to be, I think it should at least be mentioned somewhere. Do we have any idea what this name might be? I do not believe the name for the weapon was mentioned in Goa'uld at any point. Only the dummy staffs for training were named, although it is possible that their name is a variation on the name of the lethal version of the weapon. Chronolegion 13:03, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

No Rapid Fire?

In the first episode we are introduced to Bra'tac, can't remember exactly, season 1, he does some sort of rapidfire manoeuver, where he shoots the ground in front of him. Anyone else concur?

He presses the button very quickly. The Staff is essentially a semi-automatic weapon, like most pistols now-a-days and many types of larger weapons. They can be shot quickly if you pull the trigger very fast, but it's not technically rapid-fire. JBK405 16:34, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Goa'uld Staff Weapons?

Like Zats the Staff weapons are designed to resemble a Goa'uld symbiote, I believe this should be added to the article?

• Also in the season three episode " Maternal Instinct" the staff weapons are held up-side down and the butt/end of the weapon illuminates like a torch, should this be added to the article?. -- Awar (talk) 15:47, 23 November 2007 (UTC).

why does "staff weapons" redirect here? I was searching for weapons that are staffs and vice versa not a prop from a TV show :( !
