[edit]Plan to expand this article somewhat, as well as get something written for the North-South Transportation Corridor -- that article will be a better place for discusing its potential problems for Armenia, but for now wanted to put mention of it here for building on and seperating the two plans into two articles.
We should per haps color Uzbekistan to some diffrent color on the map?
correction
[edit]I think that mentioning CIS countries in both the article and the map is irrelevant. First of all, GUAM is not based on CIS in any way or form, and second of all, Ukraine is not an official CIS member and never was, despite participating in its various meetings.
- right I agree a new map should be made for GUAM alone —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 145.83.1.6 (talk) 12:40, 24 April 2007 (UTC).

the one issue associated is well known to be the originating issue
[edit]GUAM was created to counter INSTC. You can read such a thing even in western conservative articles regarding the organisation. --chaizzilla 15:27, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Counter-Russian?
[edit]Peeople, I added "fact" templates after propaganda statements. Most important: to the best of my expert knowledge, GUAM is emphatically non-anti-Russian institution. I can supply many diffs on that. If you were trying to say "perceived" or "labeled by Kremlin as anti-Russian" - just say it. And it's practically inactive BTW.AlexPU 15:37, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Not at all, I first learned more than a passing reference (via Moldovan election news) of what is now called INSTC on an Armenian (had an awesome Armenian professor of English in college, hence the interest) site that was horrified by it (can't find the article, I just have their map of it at the time because it became my desktop background). It's been pretty fascinating watching things develop. I don't see it as either solely a swing at Russia nor do I disagree that it is emphatically non-anti-Russian institution. I'm not sure INSTC would have made even what progress it has without GUAM. They're both amazing things to learn about as they touch on so many other things; I would love it if more folks picked up an interest in this story. I do have to do more concrete legwork (as opposed to haphazardly selling these two as important entities in every other "things going on" discussion I blunder into) on this to earn the hand I'm trying to put into this discussion though, admittedly. --chaizzilla 17:48, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
"understandable" exception of Armenia?
[edit]An editor opined that the non-participation by Armenia was "understandable." Why is this? Landlocked Armenia could stand to benefit by greater cooperation. Dogru144 05:12, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]The stuff would be better with organization's emblem, just thought whether someone can make a free one, based on what we currently have. --Brand спойт 15:36, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Official languages
[edit]I changed the official language of the organization, providing the reference to the official charter (http://guam-organization.org/en/node/450). Why have you returned a wrong information that english is the only official language of the organization? And why do in original names is a ukrainian one? Ukrainian is not an official language. 80.250.56.174 (talk) 07:41, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
- Reading the source, it doesn't really say that Russian is no longer a working language, just that for that particular meeting English was used. I agree that we should keep both languages as official working languages, pending some other source saying that Russian is no longer a working language. TDL (talk) 23:37, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
We should not remove referenced content quoting Ukrainian FM, where he said that GUAM move to use English instead of Russian. User who started this conversation started with removing that content too. This just can not be approved. That kind of action represent clear vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.200.53.37 (talk) 14:23, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Charter
[edit]According to their site, the GUAM had 3 incarnations:
- GUAM Advisory Forum: founded on 10 October 1997
- GUAM Association: founded on 7 June 2001
- Organization for Democracy and Economic Development-GUAM: established on 23 May 2006
So the current charter should be from 2006. --Jakey222 (talk) 16:37, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
