I will never be convinced that Jack Harris is any less important a human being than Napoleon Bonaparte. Granted, Bonaparte is a more common topic of conversation throughout the world, but is there any reason why both should not be listed within an encyclopedia whose contents are as broad as the internet? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.227.79.50 (talk) 17:09, 15 December 2004 (UTC)[reply]
Wikiproject Canada assigns importance rankings by the role that a politician holds within Canadian politics, not by subjective assessments of how much we like the person. Harris is a federal MP and a former provincial MHA, and has never been a premier, prime minister or cabinet minister. Ranking him "low" is not a comment on his value as a person — it just means he's never held certain specific roles. Whether you like Napoleon or not, it's undeniable that he's an essential topic within any proper understanding of French history. But Jack Harris, nice guy though he is, isn't an essential topic within Canadian history or politics. Bearcat (talk) 03:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why not create a disambiguation page for Jack Harris and maintain the history of article structure for Jack Harris (Canadian politician) instead of the way it was done by User:Jaxon1 which has only succeeded in confusing the discussion page for Jack Harris politician and served only to set precedence of individuals by nationality. --HJKeats (talk) 18:13, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
