Reunification
[edit]Surely the statement that Hong Kong was "reunified with the Peoples Republic of China" in 1997 is wrong. HK was reunified with China, but as HK was not in union with the Peoples Republic before it became British, it is incorrect to say that reunification took place with the PRC. As I am unaware of strength of opinion of this issue in HK, perhaps someone else can make the amendment if it is non controversial.
the use of "the"
[edit]I am afraid it would be wrong to place "the" in front of the word "Lord". We use "the Lord" to refer to God, but not a peer. Thus it is not necessary to call them "the Lord Wilson", "the Lord Patten", etc(for example: Lord North)--219.79.11.166 04:59, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
How about the usage here at this wikipedia page on members of the House of Lords[1]? I think I have seen usage like the Lord Wilson of X but I am not quite sure, can someone add a word here?Jsernest (talk) 14:36, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Irish Governors
[edit]Just to point out to the general editor of this site, Sir John Pope Hennessy was not the first Irish person to serve as Governor of Hong Kong. The very first Governor, Sir Henry Pottinger, 1st Bt., was an Irishman, as were both Sir Richard Graves MacDonnell and Sir Arthur Kennedy. Sir Hercules Robinson was born in Great Britain into an Anglo-Irish family. While Pope Hennessy was not the first Irish person to serve as Governor, he was the first Irish Catholic to serve in the post. I have edited this Wikipedia site accordingly. If you, the main editor, are unhappy with that, I quite understand. Laggan Boy (talk) 12:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
PNG flag by Iman0613
[edit]I have reverted these flags back to the SVG. This user has repeatedly uploaded PNG flags of Hong Kong to Commons without sources which may be copyrighted, and are therefore not allowed on Commons. These files are up for deletion. Fry1989 eh? 02:33, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
