Hi Gnomon! Thanks for the great Wikipedia article at h2g2, and for popping by to contribute here. I've been thinking about a Wikipedia:Guide for h2g2 researchers (as well as a Wikipedia:Guide for Everything2 noders, but you wouldn't care about that... :) but haven't got it off the ground yet. If you have a few spare minutes, feel free to start it. :) -- Stephen Gilbert 16:14 Jan 22, 2003 (UTC)
Ireland
[edit]Hi there!
If you are interested in Irish topics and articles, you may wish to visit the Irish wikipedians' notice board. Great to see someone add to some of the Irish articles here!
Also, if you know information about any other towns other than Rosslare, you may wish to check out the List of towns in the Republic of Ireland to see the articles which exist or aren't started yet (we have a list with the short articles on the talk page), or check out Category:Towns of Ireland.

Delete this
[edit]Instead of writing "delete this" in an article you create by accident, you better put {{Delete}} - that template allows to find such articles much easier, even if they don't show in the list of new pages anymore. But the one you marked earlier is gone already now... andy 11:32, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Thanks Andy. I couldn't find any "delete" button.
Renaming articles
[edit]To rename an article you can use the "move" button at the top of the page (near the "edit this page" button). Moving creates a redirect from the old name, which may be appropriate, but if not you should mark the redirect for deletion using the {{delete}} template. Thue | talk 14:45, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Maya numbers
[edit]Thanks for your work on Mesoamerican topics. However some of what you added to Maya numerals seemed wrong to me. Discussion at Talk:Maya numerals. Thanks, -- Infrogmation 15:19, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Request for edit summary
[edit]When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. – Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 04:08, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Editing old versions of a page
[edit]I think you must have accidentally edited an old version of the Tempest Prognosticator article, since your typo fix actually removed a substantial amount of content. There is a pinkish warning banner that appears near the top of the page if you do start to edit old version. —Celithemis 09:05, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Oops! Sorry about that!
I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. I have found a lot of concerns with the referencing and the licensing of images which you can see at Talk:Recorder/GA1. Consequently I have de-listed the article. Thanks. h2g2 article in peer review
[edit]Hi there Gnomon :-)
I'm trying to get wikipedia's article on h2g2 improved with a view to eventually getting it Featured Article status. That way, it might even appear for a day on the front page of wikipedia.
While it's not a particularly important project, any comments would be welcome on the review page.
Thanks, AlexAshman (talk) 15:02, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
You can leave the pages of the book in talk:Galileo Galilei, I will insert in the ciatation. Thank you!--Tranletuhan (talk) 06:21, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
You added the sentance The name 'Klein bottle' seems to have arisen from a mistranslation of the German term 'fläche' which means 'surface'. This was mistaken for the word 'flasche' which means bottle. Nevertheless, the name is appropriate. back in 2005. Do you have any reference for this? The assertion is highly disputed. --Trigamma (talk) 17:37, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Gnomon. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Gnomon~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
