Disambiguation
[edit]harpers should go directly to the magazine. The magazine is widely known as simply "Harpers", and is more important than forgotten realms. Comments? Stbalbach 14:26, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
- Importance is graded by the individual. At any rate, the actual shortened name of the magazine - Harper's - already redirects there. Harpers would only be searched for by mistake. -Erolos 21:02, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
- i disagree - search for the term "Harpers" on any search engine, and the first four or five links will all be related to the magazine. in fact the first "Harpers" wikipedia link that shows up on google is the link to the "Harper's Magazine" page. i think that:
- "Harpers" should redirect to Harper's Magazine
- this page should be renamed Harpers (Forgotten Realms)
- finally the Harper's Magazine page should contain a line at the top stating "Harpers redirects here. For the Forgotten Realms Organization named Harpers, see Harpers (Forgotten Realms)
- though i'm open to other solutions. cheers! :) 192.223.226.6 16:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- the page on Johann Sebastian Bach works this way as well 192.223.226.6 16:17, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Google Harper's magazine and then google forgotten realms, you will see FR has a few hundred thousand results more then the magazine. If you use the overture keyword tool, forgotten realms gets searched for more than some unpopular magazine. I think it is fine the way it is. 192.223.226.6 17:01, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- They aren't discussing the popularity between Forgotten realms and Harper's magazine however. Not to mention the fact that this is a made-up organization can hardly compete with the noteriety of one of America's oldest continuous running magazines. Showers 03:19, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

- They are discussing which should be placed on this page and since the FR "Harpers" are more popular and thus searched for more often it should remain the same. Wiki is like a search engine...it will only succeed if it provides the user with the most relevant content. If users can't find what they are looking for they will look elsewhere, so the most relevant content should be given, not what you feel deserves to be there —The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.232.5.178 03:19, 27 July 2007.

- You weren't reading carefully enough. He was directly comparing harper's magazine and forgotten realms NOT harper's magazine and forgotten realms harpers. In fact, if you were to do a google search, Harper's magazine has 3x the results. As of 9:22 PM CDT time on 07/29/2007 anyway. That is not counting it's brother/sister magazines such as Harper's Weekly and Harper's Bazaar either. In fact if I were to search for harpers on google, the very first website I would get would be the website for harper's magazine. The fictional harpers organization isn't even mentioned for the first 14 PAGES of results. (again as of the date stated above) I stopped looking after that. As you say, Wkipedia should provide the user with the most relevant content. Showers 02:27, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- The problem and solution are more complex than has been appreciated on this talk page, and i am the second of two 5-figure edit-count, 5+ year, editors to effect an inadequate solution since the preceding discussion. If asked on my talk page, i will explain in detail on the tk pg of a Dab (TBD, and TBA here at that time) my edit summary re my second edit of Harpers.
