Quotes in the Hurricane Katrina section

[edit]

The quotations in the Hurricane Katrina section of this article seem to be superfluous and poorly formatted for the article. I wondered how people would feel about editing them a bit to cut unnecessary parts out. They seem to be a bit unencyclopedic. – Mipadi 17:41, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Conspicuous Lack of Citations

[edit]

I'll try to get back to flesh out some of the stuff I added with citations but nothing much was cited before I got here. And there was an awful lot of anti-Broussard and pro-Gretna police POV. I'm not pro-Broussard or anti-Gretna police but please try to stick to the facts without slant. The lawsuits against Gretna and Broussard will eventually bring out all the gory details and hopefully the "right" sides can then be announced by reporting those civil judgments.

Also, you think the Gretna stuff even belongs here since Gretna's got an entry of its own? --Economy1 23:11, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Effected/Affected

[edit]

Should be "affected" in third sentence. 198.185.18.207 17:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Jefferson Parish, Louisiana seal.png

[edit]

File:Jefferson Parish, Louisiana seal.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Article issues

[edit]
Removed the video links that are clear and blatant advertisement links (WMV and MOV) to Blue America. Added "Citation needed" for block quote. If a citation is not added I will remove the quote per policies and guidelines. Otr500 (talk) 04:53, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have some concerns about the content in the article: "Water resulting from the backflow through the non-operating pumping stations, as well as storm-related rainwater, remained on the streets and in the homes of residents of Metairie and Kenner for a day and a half.". I am going to look for some sources for this section.
I was involved in cleanup, using a 130 barrel tanker removing water that included waste and "sewer water", for a week. We were running 24-hours a day in a large area that included Harahan, Metairie, Kenner, Marrero, and Westwego. My crew (there were several) centered mostly around Jean Lafitte, Barataria, and Lafitte, although we were dispatched all over. A major priority was the clean up of sewer water because many sewer pumping stations were flooded. The entire time there was largely only the article mentioned emergency and utility vehicles with no electricity. There were people that did not evacuate and they had no services including water or sewer.
The main thing is too much content with a lack of sources, that includes block quotes which invokes BLP issues, so hopefully some are available or there needs to be some severe trimming. Otr500 (talk) 05:59, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
