Death to the Daleks
[edit]If you have a moment, look at Death to the Daleks as there was a copyvio, and has been reported. You probably have a better idea what to do ;) --TimPope 10:23, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
Dalek history
[edit]I think it's not just fans, but Terry Nation, who maintained that "Evil of the Daleks" represented the end of the Daleks' history no matter what earlier Daleks subsequently were encountered by later Doctors.--Louis Epstein/le@put.com/12.144.5.2 19:01, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
- Interesting. Do you have a reference for this? I don't recall it being mentioned in any of the reference works. --khaosworks 19:41, May 23, 2005 (UTC)
Need some advice
[edit]You've been quite a help with allowing me to add to the Doctor Who pages, thank you. I'm wondering if you could give me some advice with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Tertiary through Quintessential Phases page. There have been a number of users, well meaning I'm sure, adding wiki links to EVERY instance where an actor's name crops up. Isn't there some kind of style guide for this? Once per article? Once per main section? What would be your recommendation? Thanks in advance. --JohnDBuell 16:46, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion! I'll implement this when I get a chance! --JohnDBuell 18:13, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
Titles of articles
[edit]Hey there. I've just undone your reversion at Doctor Who regarding the title being italicised. Just to let you know the title is subject to the same rules as the rest of the article. To quote the MOS: "Follow the normal rules for italics in choosing whether to put part or all of the title in italics."
I'd also just like to thank you for the consistent great work you've been putting into these articles. violet/riga (t) 10:15, 28 May 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words, although I sometimes fear that I may seem tyrannical when it comes to my edits. I'm not, really, just anal when it comes to certain stuff. :) --khaosworks 10:21, May 28, 2005 (UTC)
- I'd like to second the comment about the great work you've done on these articles, khaosworks. I now find that every Saturday night I wait for your synopsis to appear before I feel that the episode has really finished! Top-notch work.--DudeGalea 17:12, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

Arbitration
[edit]Please see what he wrote in User:Mel Etitis/Arbtan: Please do not edit this page directly unless you wish to become a participant in this request. And see my statements in User talk:Mel Etitis and do some analysis. Is he lying on his statement?
How about remarking or providing comments in your point of view? Thanks.
Hi Terence,
I plan to send Singapore for FAC again after some bit of touchup. It would be good if you can review it and let me know if it's up to standards. Do let me know as well if there is any need of imporvement. :)

My RFA: Thanks

Politics of Singapore
[edit]Hi Khaoworks!
You have mentioned in your user page that you were once a magistrate in the surbodinate courts, so I was wondering if you could provide some valuable inputs for Politics of Singapore. I have steadily added content based on what I could find on the internet. I have also worked on the article based on the following meaning of "government" taken from Government: "In British English, the word "Government" can also be used to refer only to the executive branch, in this context being a synonym for the word "administration" in American English (e.g. the Blair Government, the Bush Administration). In countries using the Westminster system the Government (or party in Government) will also useually [sic] control the legislature". Do you think this would be appropriate?
I understand you'll be busy this week or so, would really appreciate it if you could spare some time. Thanks in advance for your help! =Travisyoung= 16:54, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for your input! I was reading several Wikipedia articles, and the legal concepts of precedents, statutes, common law etc totally overwhelmed me! So would I be correct to say that statutes and Acts of Parliament are actually the same thing? Are precedents part of the constitution as well? In [1], there's an entry which says "Go to Cap. No.", does "Cap." mean chapter? What does rule of law mean? Does Singapore have rule of law? (I know the list sounds long, but your reply has piqued my interest!) You can choose to answer selectively! :) Many thanks in advance! =Travisyoung= 17:26, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your input again. No offense taken, I do admit I am a novice when it comes to politics. I did most of my research online when editing Politics of Singapore. Hopefully there won't be more gross errors as you look through the article! Thanks for your help again.! =Travisyoung= 17:57, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Slitheen species
[edit]I seem to recall some point during "Boom Town" where Margaret/Blon specifically says she's a Raxacoricofallapatorian. Perhaps I should watch it again to be sure, but that was what I remember. Anyway, lots of fictional alien species are named after their planet of origin... Radagast 01:44, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
- Just rewatched it on the Canadian broadcast tonight: In the dinner scene, Blon mentions how in 'extreme circumstances, a female Raxacoricofallapatorian can produce a poison dart from her finger'. That seems to justify the species name... Radagast 02:18, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)
1. The Gelf are a fictional Doctor Who enemy introduced in Episode 2 of the new series.
2. The Nestenes are not autons, there is a picture of one in the BBC website. SGCommand
- Got your message, will change the Gelf to Gelth thanks but the question remains. Do we create a seperate article for the Nestenes or not since we have a picture of one plus a bit of history.SGCommand
- Okay, will doSGCommand
Harry Lee Kuan Yew
[edit]Why did you remove Harry? I have asked Mel concerning his research (see his talk Page) but he has yet to reply. I have already checked Lee's biography, and have already stated, that he confessed that his full name is "Harry Lee Kuan Yew". We just can't wait for Mel Etitis, looking at his behaviour in contrast to [2]
Mr Tan 15:47, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Check the book: 李光耀回忆录:1923-1965 for more information. In the book, note this sentence from the book: 我出世的时候, 家里.... 但是, 祖父出于对英国人的仰慕, 给我多加了一个洋名 Harry. 于是我的全名 变成 "Harry Lee Kuan Yew". Lee stated this, and he must have a birth certificate. Since he stated that this is the "full name", a full name is always stated in the birth cert. I believe that your "Terence" must be included in the birth cert? I suppose? He must have the same case as you.
Mr Tan 03:05, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it is. From the very first chapter. Anyway, I would be very grateful if you can give me the name of his English biography. I am expecting a reply. Thanks.

Drax delinking

Nonsense
[edit]"Please stop adding nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox."
I'm blown away by your message... What nonsense are you referring to? [3]
Surely Mr van Statten isn't a Dr Who villain? Why is he in this category?-->Energy (talk) 12:58, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
WTF?
[edit]I never changed anything here... [4] In fact the only changes I've done on Wikipedia is concerning my regiment, here [5] and our regimental song, here [6] . Although I use a computer at work... could this be why I received your "Nonsense" message? I enjoy Wiki very much and hold a very high regard for it... I'd never intentionally sabotage it. :|
Responsibility

Lee Kuan Yew
[edit]Hello, Mr Chua, I am Mr Tan, and I need a few tips from you concerning this issue. Due in part the fact that Huaiwei seems to be on leave for at least two days from my observation of his recent edits, so I would need some advice concerning the "Harry" on Lee Kuan Yew's name which I have discussed with Huaiwei, Mel Etitis and Khaosworks.
Firstly, I would appreciate if you can inspect carefully between the English version of his biography that you Huaiwei gave and the Chinese version of his biography that I gave:
"But my grandfather's admiration for the British made him add "Harry" to my name, so I was Harry Lee Kuan Yew. My two younger brothers, Kim Yew and Thiam Yew, were also giben Christian names - Dennis and Freddy respectively. At that time few non-Christian Chinese did this, and at school later I was to find myself the odd boy out with a personal name like "Harry". When my youngest brother, Suan Yew, was born in 1933, I persuaded my parents not to give him a Christian name since we were not Christians."
"我出世的时候, 家里.... 但是, 祖父出于对英国人的仰慕, 给我多加了一个洋名 Harry. 于是我的全名 变成 "Harry Lee Kuan Yew". "
You notice that your version makes no mention that his "full name" is "Harry Lee Kuan Yew", but not the Chinese biography.
Also, I am wondering about the comment from Mel Etitis: "reverted attempt to circumvent consensus on naming": What consensus? I thought that he is going to ask his colleague concerning Lee's name, but days has passed and he had not given an answer. If you notice my edit that he reverted, [7], I made an attempt to say that he is "born Harry Lee Kuan Yew". However, the current state of the article says that he is also known as "Harry Lee Kuan Yew".
If this is the case, the introduction might as well be Harry Lee Kuan Yew, even though you say that his biography, and all other official document dealings uses "Lee Kuan Yew", just like Jimmy Carter, I think. What do you think? Your comment would be greatly appreciated.
Mr Tan 04:54, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I think you must be, because you seem to be censoring and controlling everything remotely connected with Doctor Who. I have made a great many edits to articles connected with this, and almost every one of my edits has been reverted or changed beyond recognition. I understand that the disclaimer says that my work will be mercilessly edited, but let me tell you that you are not in charge. I will start putting my edits back if you don't stop trying to control everyone else.-->Energy (talk) 07:32, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Hovering or kneeling
[edit]Erm..."the Daleks around the Doctor didn't hover". Prison warders don't kneel in a prison chapel, I imagine. If the greatest enemy ever of the Dalek race is in their ship, some have obviously got to sacrifice religion for guarding him. However, since I need a license to edit Dr Who articles, I hereby lodge an application for one, or you can do it yourself if your labour-intensive censorship schedule opens up. Reply on my talkpage please.-->Energy (talk) 16:53, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- It's not a matter of evidence, it's a matter of counter-evidence. Why were Daleks hovering around their God? What benefit did they get out of it?-->Energy (talk) 17:05, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Recent plot edits
[edit]I cant say that 81.144.244.11 's style is spot-on but to be fair, if you don't like his style perhaps a copyedit is more in order than a blanket revert. GraemeLeggett 14:53, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I had thought that since they were so terse, even muddled that it had been easier to remove then than to chase them and copyedit. I assure you no insult or slight was intended. GraemeLeggett 15:35, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I note also that the plot parts of the episode guide are those not licenced from the Discontiuity Guide, which might explain the poor style.GraemeLeggett

Very unhappy
[edit]Hello, I am User:Marmot, and I am being bullied by User:Linuxbeak. He has already blocked two of my IPs, as well as blocking me from IRC to prevent me from telling other admins about his bullying. Please help. I am innocent! He now threatens permenant ban on me. I try hard and taxman says I done good for last few days, but Linux hates me! All I want is to be left alone. I added many good articles.
- Clearly MARMOT has not really been trying. Blocking the IP's he edited under was clearly warranted, and after this personal attack and the advice from arbcom I've had enough. - Taxman Talk 17:12, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Mr Chua, thank you for helping me revert my article back to its previous condition. I plan to start an article on the recent Liu Hongmei murder. I plan to start next Friday, can you help? Tomhongs 13:07, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I'll still give it a shot nevertheless. I really hope it works though.Tomhongs 13:16, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Blocking User:210.50.178.6
[edit]Please do not block any IP indefinitely, even if you have established it's a static IP. (And as far as I can tell, that IP is not static and the user you really want to block will have another IP by now.) This IP will probably be reused by someone else who will then find themselves blocked for no reason. I have undone your block for now; if the IP returns and exhibits a similar pattern of behavior you can lengthen the block each time and block for up to a month, but do not make it indefinite.
